Boat trip! Dolphin Bay, Crawl Cay, Isla Zapatilla

http://www.hablayapanama.com/ecotourism/bocas-del-toro/boat-tours/#dolphin-bay

What a beautiful day in the Bocas del Toro archipelago!  We took a bout tour today to Dolphin Bay, Crawl Cay and Isla Zapatilla.  The first place we stopped was a protected bay where bottlenose dolphins live and mate.  I think Josef got the best pics and I will upload his when I can.  So cool.

Next we went to Crawl Cay where we snorkeled and saw amazing coral: fan coral, flame coral, finger coral, all different types and colors.  There was a restaurant over the water near there where parrots were hanging around.

We went to Isla Zapatilla for a few hours, one of a pair of uninhabited islands with amazing white sand and clear blue water.... the tropical island of your dreams.  The water is so warm in the ocean here that it really doesn't cool you off much to swim!

Back to Crawl Cay to eat and drink, and then on the way home, our amazing boat drivers made a few extra stops: a little island to see a sloth eating in a tree, a second small island with a huge group of frigate birds? have to look that one up! And most amazing, a shallow area with hundreds of starfish! Orange, red, yellow and green ones.

There were quite a variety of folks sharing our boat: a few locals, some Italians, a Brazilian, an Ecuadorean, a few people from the Netherlands.

We ended the day at a great little restaurant with awesome hot sauce (Lili's Café, home of You Killin Me Man hot sauce!  Not for the faint of tongue!)

Josef and I are going to get up early and go to 7 a.m. mass tomorrow morning.  Love to all!

  1. Beautiful pictures you guys! Love reading about your adventures too. I am wondering if you will get in on any "day of the dead" festivities? I am studying it with my 5th grade students. I bet time is flying. Glad you had some nice weather and that is has stopped raining! The water is so clear!! xoxo Lis
